Hebrews 13:20-21 are two verses that give me great encouragement,

Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.  Amen.

These verses teach us that God is working in us all the time to bring us to maturity—our destiny in Christ.

A friend of mine shared a brilliant illustration of this one time.  He likened God’s guidance to that of the Global Positioning System (GPS), one of those systems in cars and phones that guides you to your destination.

A GPS system uses a satellite to give an aerial view, and its sole function is to get you to your destination, your “destiny.”

As you travel to your destination, you have a map on the screen, and this little annoying voice talking to you through the whole trip, “Left turn a quarter mile ahead; left turn 150 feet ahead; left turn 50 feet ahead.”

If you miss your turn, it immediately computes a new course for you so you can get back to where you are supposed to be.  And if you mess up on those directions, it then computes another new course.

In the same way, God has a destiny for us to fulfill, something that fits into His great master plan.  By His grace, He is guiding us all the way, even when we get off track.  God just readjusts and says, “This is the next thing you need to do to get back into My plan.”

Through His “GPS,” He is always working to get us where we need to be.  Praise God!

  1. Comparing God to a GPS system is a great illustration, for within each of us from the time we are born into this realm is the ability to be lead, guided and taught from within…. only to the point, as with the GPS system that we trust what we are being told from within and follow it, doing as it instructs.

As with a GPS system, if one does not follow the instructions… does not update the software within the program… one can not only get off course but wind up far from one’s destination, simply because one does not take the time to hear and obey what it has access to and often times has purchased for oneself.

The key to using a GPS is to make sure that it is up to date… that the mapping software within it is not old and out dated, and to listen to the instructions and FOLLOW them… not ignore them and then wait on it to redirect you time and time again hoping to get to your destination.

The same is key with what is within each person from their own birth…. one has to trust the leading and guidance, and follow it. Jesus didn’t say if you love me, keep ignoring my commandments expecting God to get you to your destination …. and remap your life for you time and time again. He said if you love me keep my commandments… know what they are… and follow them. “my sheep hear my voice and another they will NOT follow”…. not my sheep hear my voice, follow another, or ignore my voice and then wait for me to remap their course and make it work for them while they just keep ignoring what I say and doing whatever they choose to do and think that they will ever get to their destination by ignoring all the instructions given to them.

Even a GPS can’t be expected to get you to your destination, if you continually ignore the instructions given to you…. making turns in an opposition direction than what is given…. you wind up going in circles… never reaching your destination… and thinking that as long as the GPS remaps the course for you, that you’re still moving toward your destination while ignoring it.. is to simply deceive oneself. The key is to hear and obey….

Jesus said, “man is to live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God”….. not hear it and ignore it or go in a different direction expecting God to keep making a new “map” for you or changing your course so you can just ignore Him again and again. The message is clear…. My sheep know my voice, they hear me and they follow ….

So again… do we simply discount all that Jesus said and taught within the pages of the bible… and follow another…. or do we hear and obey/follow Him and only Him …. and “another they will NOT follow”???

  2. Right here is the right webpage for anybody who wants to find out about this topic.
You realize so much its almost tough to argue with you (not
that I really will need to…HaHa). You definitely put a
new spin on a subject that’s been written about for decades. Excellent stuff, just great!

  3. Definitely consider that that you stated.
Your favorite justification seemed to be on the
internet the easiest thing to have in mind of. I say to
you, I certainly get annoyed at the same time as other folks consider worries
that they plainly don’t recognize about. You managed to hit the nail upon the highest and
defined out the whole thing without having side effect , other folks
could take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thank you.
